Feb 26, 2013 - Been a while since hearing/seeing this.....a true innovator, and master of the form,I'll never forget first hearing the MSG album[from our local library,if you can believe it!]and being totally amazed, yet many friends at the time, just didn't get it. I don't know if it's me,but the Dean, and the modern amps, don't get the same tone,to me,though I'm often confused, depending on the day ha ha.I'm at :soundcloud com/rks26

Jan 13, 2013 - It was in '93, when Blackmore quit very finally before Purple's Japanese dates (he played up to and including the Helsinki date). But Schenker had literally just rejoined UFO, so this was a major event for him and UFO. Purple knew only Vai or Satriani would be suitable men to do the tour, and Joe Satriani did. So it would've been a Schenker - Gillan - Glover - Lord - Paice line-up! Musically interesting for sure, but the UFO classic Walk on Water wouldn't've happened.

Jan 13, 2013 - Deep Purple asked Schenker? Holy shit, during what era? If Coverdale and Schenker played together I would have gone crazy haha and you bet!
GreenerHill Says:
Jan 13, 2013 - Point taken. In fact, I'm barely familiar with Ozzy's material, as I don't like his voice or personality. Randy Rhoads was apparently a brilliant guitarist. To my mind, Schenker had his perfect gig with UFO - one listen to Lights Out could convert anyone. Schenker's classical style was more to the fore with MSG (he, Blackmore and Uli were the originators of classical/rock crossover). The other band who wanted Schenker were eclectic enough - Deep Purple! Thanks for politeness, by the way. :)

Jan 13, 2013 - Dude Taken by Force is SOO good I agree :)
Cody Wilson Says:
Jan 12, 2013 - I actually take back what I said about Whitesnake, they're awesome but them and the Stones aren't eclectic enough for Schenker. Ozzy's style calls for neo-classical playing and big folk ballads- something Micahel is amazing at that those two bands never did.
GreenerHill Says:
Jan 12, 2013 - You're talking about Osbourne's guitar-players - Randy Rhoads and co. I'm talking about his own terrible vocals! Schenker's worked with some of the best singers in rock - Phil Mogg, Gary Barden, Graham Bonnet, etc. - so it would've been a bad move to work with a tuneless idiot like Ozzy. Enough!
Cody Wilson Says:
Jan 9, 2013 - Rolling Stones and Whitensake aren't better than Osbourne lol Certainly not in the realm of "guitar rock" nothing against the Stones, but guitar wise they're very limited. Ozzy has had some of the most all time memorable guitar tracks with so many players. He's who Schenker shouldn't have turned down.
GreenerHill Says:
Dec 31, 2012 - Good on you! Hope you've seen Schenker since then. :)
GreenerHill Says:
Dec 31, 2012 - Schenker has turned down people a lot better than Osbourne - Rolling Stones, Whitesnake, Deep Purple, etc. And he made great albums with UFO after rejoining in '93.

Nov 12, 2012 - best composer of lead guitar solos ...schenker is god...
Dan D Says:
Oct 25, 2012 - I still wonder how it would have turned out if Schenker accepted Ozzy's offer to join his band? For those that don't remember Schenker's asking price at the time was too high for Ozzy.
nolanthebutcher Says:
Oct 17, 2012 - why oh why didn't you say yes to ozzy?
